Am I the only one who doesn't think that it needs a sequel? Like Bioshock 2 it feels like a way to cash in without actually caring about the final product.

But this IS Valve I'm talking about so there's an excellent chance that I'm wrong.

I would have to say that Valve does this for the good of gaming.

Nah, they do it for the money just like everyone else. But they've figured out they can actually make more money by making good games.

It's not like you use those talents to give stuff away, why would you not sell something that you know can sell, I mean really, all i ever hear you complain about is how corporations make money off of us, would you not do the same if you were the one making the money I mean really. It's not like using your talents for something like this is a charity case, seriously dude just lay off the whole making money thing, your way too skeptical.

Wait WTF? I'm a registered Republican, corporate whoring is part of my core belief system. But if you seriously don't think that any (game) company's objective is not to make money, you're mistaken. It's possible to like your work and make a shit ton of money though.

of course they do it to make money (can't have a business otherwise) but i feel that valve does many things for their gamers out of shear generosity and the love of the game, especially considering all the additional content they make for their games and not charging for them like Microsoft does.

So essentially, i agree with your last statement.

They could've thrown out another $20 game a year after the first one and made crap tons of cash while the memes were still popular.

Instead, they've made a, frankly, gorgeous fully-fledged game.

Valve cares.

I liked Portal 1. I would like to play more Portal. I like Portal 2.
