Otaku: Not happy till he stabs Jesus in the face, oh wait he can't, because he doesn't exist

:snap:

About to start reading the Neon Genesis Evangelion: Angelic Days manga

It's like the original NGE, except now it is a romantic comedy! :awe:

I picked vol. 1 up in my local Borders and started reading but I had to stop because it made me feel kinda gay. So then I went and bought a book about Hitler.

Here is a paper bag and a Swiss Army knife. Cut near the top of your scrotum and put your testicles in the bag. Then throw it away, you won't be needing them anymore.

I'm reading the Cirque Du Freak series.
It's probably a lot easier to read when you're like 10 because of the way that it written. At times its a bit more mature, but then there are the exclamation marks where they aren't necessary. It's a good book though, and I'm on the second one now. I just hope that as the books go on they get more mature.

Ya know....really its not THAT bad.
A lot of teachers are making their students read the books. The books aren't BAD. They just aren't very well written, because like Stephen King said: "Both Rowling and Meyer, they’re speaking directly to young people… The real difference is that Jo Rowling is a terrific writer and Stephenie Meyer can’t write worth a darn. She’s not very good."
Yeah. :awe:

Yeah. :awe:

Kinda contradictory there.
Schools should be using well written, good books.

Agreed that schools should be, though well-written is a matter of opinion for a lot of people.

Also, a book CAN be bad and badly-written. It might have such a spectacular plot that it keeps you plodding through the mediocre craftsmanship. I think it's possible to be a good storyteller or idea-person without being a good writer.

...but in that case get someone to ghostwrite for you, god.

(When I said I wanted to write some LGBT-character books for young adults since there's a shortage, Mom said I should write a sort of Twilight that happened to have gay characters. I think I died a little inside.)

But yeah seconded on setting the teacher on fire. Unless she's using it as a learning tool about good story, bad writing.

Mine are...
Teaching in America
Theories of Development
Child Development 5th Edition

...and an embarrassingly bad lesbian romance novel my mom got me while I was in Little Rock because I was lonely. *hides* ///
